Kia ora, my name is Eryn. I'm a marriage celebrant based in Wellington, New Zealand. If I’m the right celebrant for you and your wedding, then I’m going to be finding out a bit about you. I thought it was only fair to share a little about me so that you can decide if I’m the right celebrant for you! 

 

 

Being a celebrant is my part-time gig! The rest of the week I’m kept busy in my work in community development. Working for and with different communities is one of my passions. I believe in the building and nurturing of communities for positive change through fostering a sense of belonging, the model of inclusion and supporting people’s well-being.

 

Because I like to keep my fingers in loads of pies - I also run a small organisation “Opportunity Arts” which comes from two of my major loves, people and art. Opportunity Arts provides exactly that - opportunities, for artists who might experience barriers (such as disability) to achieve inclusion, recognition and success in the mainstream arts. When I find the time I also like to make some of my own art - mostly mixed media sculpture and assemblage. My other interests are spending time with friends and whanau, music, gigs, festivals and road trips, the art of conversation and laughter, making stuff and doing things!

 

I became a celebrant when two of my best friends asked me to - I’ll do anything on a dare (jokes)! However, I can credit them for encouraging me to start on this journey. I could see a gap in the market for someone like me - a bit quirky, youthful, colourful and alternative - on the right side of mad! Where is the punk to marry the punks? Where are all the geeky pop culture references in wedding ceremonies? Where are the gags that even ya gran will find funny?  

 

I’m a total and hopeless romantic who enjoys writing. But more than that - I enjoy people and hearing their stories. Weddings are happy occasions and I’ve found it so humbling to be a part of people's day. It’s not something I expected to love doing, but here I am lovin’ it! In my (other) professional lives I've done loads of public speaking and facilitation work - so you can feel confident, that I feel confident!
